“If you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big”

I never wanted to ‘settle’, and I always knew there was something out there better than the 9-5.

Still unsure of what that thing was when I graduated college, my passion for travel and adventure led me to South Korea to teach English for a year.

After my teaching stint and a few months traveling around Southeast Asia, I came across my first “location-independent” entrepreneur. Like the wayward traveler encountering the all-knowing sage on some dusty back road, I recognized and appreciated the moment for the clarity of purpose it provided me.

I knew at once that it was possible, and that I was going to be that guy. My focus, since returning from the trip was then figuring out everything that I didn’t know, along with voraciously following in the footsteps of those who had been there before.

My initial meeting with that digital nomad opened my eyes to the wonders of Virtual Assistants, SEO, and internet marketing. With that new-found knowledge, I knew my life would never be the same. I knew that that was how I was going to live, once I returned to the US. Once there, I set about making that lifestyle a reality.

The version without the genie granting you your wishes on demand? Well, that’s the one where the beginning (i.e. “learning phase”) is very tough. I had a ridiculous amount of stuff to learn, with little clue as to what I was doing.

“Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.”

Were there hard times? Yes indeed. Part of that I attribute to being ambitious and incredibly over-confident. So I tried and failed (and tried and failed) for the better part of the next year. Whatever money I had saved, I quickly burned through, and was forced to move back home. All in all, a humbling experience. But is was a much needed lesson in what works and what doesn’t and I wouldn’t have been the same without it.

Fast forward a few years and I started to figure some things out. I became interested in Pinterest when playing around with it to generate traffic for a niche skin care website that I was involved with. My interest in Pinterest continued to grow as we saw more and more success with it for our site. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became with the depth and potential of the network. After many conversations with friends and other business owners about Pinterest, I realized that there was a huge gap in entrepreneurs’ understand of how to leverage Pinterest for their business.

So, I got to work and began creating what is now my flagship Pinterest course ‘Boards For Business’

Speaking of passion, my love of photography can be seen throughout this site and on my Instagram feed. A lot of inspiration came from my time spent in NYC. I loved exploring the city. There is so much going on all the time, and the different parts of the city are absolutely beautiful. Now I call Asia home, and it’s where the work continues.
